Overview

Presented below are few combinations and possibilities of making this unique project possible in your country, city, concert hall...                                                

Classical and Jazz musicians performing important and well known musical compositions together on one stage – it is a real treat for music lovers anywhere.
This concept, well recognized in US, was an instant success on Asian market, where we took Rhapsody in Jazz first. Our main focus is always on places where Classical music has its strongest roots, with many professional and amateur classical musicians – especially string instrument players and of course, Symphony & Philharmonic orchestras. Our 2007 East meets West concert series in Singapore (under name Rhapsody in Jazz)  (中文) irreversibly proved that we are on the right path.

In this series of three concerts our group consisted of :
John di Martino, New York - Pianist /Arranger/ musical director
Aaron Heick, New York – saxophone/clarinet/flute
Bill Moring, New York – bass
Niq Osman, Singapore - percussion
Classical String Quartet – Singapore, Lim Shue Churn leader.
Guest artists:
Ma Qing, Singapore – female Soprano
Alexander Souptel, Singapore - Jazz Violin, concertmaster of Singapore Symphony Orchestra

* For following concerts in Canada, we used same trio and quartet with addition of LOCAL musicians: percussionist, Jazz violinist and vocalist Aelita, all from Toronto.

Concert series East meets West was founded in 2006 by John di Martino (Grammy nominated pianist/arranger from New York), Lim Shue Churn (first Violin, Singapore Symphony Orchestra) and Jack Neihausen (producer/consultant, New York). All arrangements are original and specially tailored for Classical Strings and Jazz trio with percussions. Besides instrumental music there are numerous vocal arrangements for female vocalist.
Advantage of this project is flexibility: our Jazz trio is a back bone of the concept, the rest of musicians can be hired locally but if there is a possibility to bring the whole Original group, or part of it – we will be happy to perform as original.
We are proud of our high level of musicianship – it gives as a possibility to work with any variety of musicians listed below:
